What we collect

Instructors. When you sign in with Google or Apple we store the email address on that account. We collect usage analytics (pages visited, errors encountered) to improve the product.

Candidates sitting a proctored exam. We store the name and optional email you enter before the exam, a record of monitoring events (tab switches, full-screen exits, copy/paste attempts, camera coverage), and the webcam images captured during the session — plus images from a paired phone if your instructor enabled a second camera. We do not record your screen, your keystrokes, your files, or your answers: the exam form belongs to your institution, and we never read its contents.

How we use it

Instructor data is used to operate the service, handle billing, send important account emails, and troubleshoot problems. Exam monitoring data is used for one purpose only: to let the instructor who set the exam review that session. It is never used to train models, never sold, and never shared with other candidates.

Retention. Captured images are deleted automatically once the retention window passes (30 days by default). The session's score and event timeline are kept as a lightweight record, and an instructor can delete an exam and all of its evidence at any time.

Third-party services

We rely on infrastructure providers to run the service (hosting, database, email delivery, analytics, and AI processing). Your data is shared with them only as needed to provide the service.

Your rights

You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time by contacting hello@proctosecure.com.
